Skiing accommodation in Colorado in February

A friend is planning to be in Colorado in February 2008. He will have a party of 7 and they are looking for 14 days holiday accommodation reasonably close to any of the skifield areas. Preferably a holiday apartment or house. Any suggestions on where he could start looking? websites, recommendations etc. Thanks very much in anticipation.

Each resort's website has a lodging finder section; you can put in your dates and what your requirements are, and it will tell you what's available.

We've also had good luck with "vacation rentals by owner", whose website is www.vrbo.com

Also look at http://denver.craigslist.org/vac/

The towns of Frisco, Dillon and Silverthorne will be less costly and central to all Ski areas. There is an area called Wildernest that I like allot, it is in Silverthorne but often just listed as Wildernest . More of a mountain feel than some areas of Silverthorne. You would need a car though for that. If he is not getting a car I'd go with Frisco.

You can start looking at Vail Resort lodging. Depending on the exact 14 days it may include the busiest week-end of the year--President's Day (16th or whatever is close).
For a party that large renting a van will almost be imperative for their transportation.
I am assuming they are coming from abroad. This will be an expensive endeavor!!

Hi Gretchen,
Yes - they are coming from Australia, so it will be an expensive endeavour indeed. They're trying to avoid having to hire a vehicle, and therefore trying to find somewhere within walking distance of ski lifts etc. We've found some very good potential properties thanks to the earlier posts. Will check out Vail as well. Thanks again for everyone's help!
