Ski & Slots in Lake Tahoe
I could use some help planning a trip to Lake Tahoe in March. I have read some of the posts and have a few additional questions. We will fly into Reno and rent a car. There will be 7 adults and 5 kids (three families) arriving on different days. Adults are intermediate skiiers, kids are not intermediate but have skiied before. One of the adults (my wife) does not ski at all but loves the slot machines! Where can we stay that has accommodations for all of us, good skiing and relative close proximity to the casinos? Any advise would be appreciated!

The Marriott Grand Residence or Embassy Suites at Stateline. They are at the base of the Heavenly gondola and less than a block from Harrah's/Harvey's.

Twice we've stayed at Forest Suites--not fancy, but the condos are spacious and the location is very convenient.

You will have too stay in South Lake Tahoe to be very close to both skiing and the casinos. It's not my personal favorite (I much prefer North Lake Tahoe), but the casinos in North Lake Tahoe are farther away from the better ski areas (about 20-30 minutes from Northstar and Squaw). (There are two ski area near in Incline Village, which is where the Hyatt is -- Diamond Peak and Mt. Rose -- I don't know anything about those ski mountains)
Have you looked at this map? http://www.tahoebest.com/skiing/map_to_ski_areas.htm It shows all the ski areas and the relationship to Reno. |
Yup, South Tahoe.
