Singer Island for a week in July/August
 

We have a beach condo for a week on Singer Island starting in two weeks. (Marriott's Ocean Pointe) My plans are to do a little shopping in Palm Beach, have dinner at two or three really great places, hopefully participate in the turtle hatching (am I late?) and just basically do little else. I have a spa day at the Breakers.

Any suggestions. I'm a foodie but find myself starting to be bored with the really composed food (e.g. melange of whatever with stacked this and that floating in a coulis of something else). A great wine list is important to me. I like Renatos. I usually dislike the Bice's. Any thoughts for other places?

Also,I need a great wine shop. There have to be lots in the area. Thanks in advance.

Looking for a good market as well and my own search pulled up Carmine's. Is there any where better? I don't mind driving. I'm looking forward to having time to do a little cooking for lunch and breakfast. LMF

We've shopped at Carmine's when we're in town LMF and (IMHO) it reminds me of Balducci's or Whole Foods in the northeast. We were really pleased with wat we were able to get .

Redfire Grill is my favorite. Upscale to moderate dining (khakis, sundress or nice shorts).

You cannot miss Sailfish Marina Restaurant on Thursday nights. Not only do they have excellent seafood, it is a wonderful place for lunch and to sit outside and watch the boats. On Thursday nights, they have a great outdoor fair sort of thing on the docks. Upscale Casual Dining (throw a sarong on over the bathing suit).

Take the water taxi.

Toojays is a fantastic deli. Casual dining.

DB at the Brazillian Court Hotel is scrumptious. Daniel Boulud of NYC fame. Very upscale dining.

Taboo to people watch. Upscale dining.

Shop at the Church Mouse off Worth Avenue. Best consignment shop in the country. I kid you not.

That Balduccis reference nailed it for me. I loved the Greenwich Balduccis and was sad to hear it had left.(for the upper west side?) I'll definitely shop at Carmines

Thanks for the Redfire Grill rec, Go T! I will definitely make the Church Mouse stop. Sounds like an interesting afternoon. Ladies who lunch need to have constant wardrobe renewal and often consign clothes after wearing just once or twice.

(BTW, I had already printed your linked thread. Just felt like starting another.)

Have you heard of Bizarre Avenue in Lake Worth.? Sounds like another interesting place. Just wonder if anyone has been.

LMF - You are staying at one of my favorite places! I sure hope that you enjoy yourselves.

I know that you also enjoy decorating with style. Don't forget that the Palm Beach area has an internationally famous antique district. The area has even been featured in an Architectural Digest about a year-and-a-half ago.

The health food store that is in front of Riveria Beach (near your hotel) offers some very healthy and tasty sandwiches and smoothies. Perhaps it is "Foodie Material On The Run" ?!?
