Silver Cloud Inn, Tacoma questions

Thinking about staying here and have heard some comments about the train passing nearby-any comments about this or the motel itself?
Also, if anyone knows, would living in an apartment in Old Town Tacoma be a good idea?
How about the train passing through? Thanks?

Silver Cloud Inn is a NW chain that consistenly receives favorable comments. If you call the hotel and ask about noise from trains, I believe they will give you an honest answer.

Thanks, I'll give them a try. Are you familiar with this area of Tacoma? Do you feel it is relatively safe and clean? One of my adult kids is thinking about moving into this area from the midwest.

Depends on the part of Tacoma. There are very upscale neighborhoods and some pretty rough ones and lots in between. It's a fairly large city so there's not one answer to your question of cleanliness or safety.

I have stayed at 4 of the Silver Cloud Inn locations and the Tacoma location is my favorite but the train is LOUD, they do provide earplugs! I am a heavy sleeper so I dont notice it while sleeping. The views from the back rooms are great, the staff is wonderful and you can walk to a few nice restaurants and there is also a 24 hour organic market about 5 blocks away.

I guess I'm referring to living in the Old Town Tacoma neighborhood-near the motel and restaurants-like The Spar( I think). Any comments about that neighborhood?

Oops sorry. Don't know Tacoma in detail. Hopefully someone else can help? Anyone??
