Silly Question - shower after Golden Gate Bike ride

Dear all,

I'll be in San Francisco late June to attend a meeting. After reading this forum , I dicided to take a bike ride of the Golden Gate for my last and only free day :-(

I will stay in Marriott SF downtown. I have to check out at noon and leave all my stuff there. After a light lunch, I'll take public transport to the peer and rent the bike there.
It should be 5 or 6pm when I return by ferry.

My silly question is :

WHERE CAN I TAKE A SHOWER ?

You may find it crazy but I've to catch the flight at mid-night (01:30 next day be exact) ..... it takes 16+ hours to Hong Kong. Those sit next to me must kill me right on the plane.

Will it be too demanding to ask the hotel if I can use their Gym ? (even I've checked out)
Is there any place I can just take a shower and change cloths near Fishman's Wharf ?

Your input are much appreciated

Yikes! Not a silly question at all. I would negotiate with the hotel upon arrival. Otherwise, I am betting there are showers at the airport, but that still leaves you smelling yourself for too long. :-)

Enjoy the ride!

Not silly at all, and considerate of fellow passengers. Yes, tell the hotel your plans and that you'd like to use a shower afterwards ... if they have shower facilities near the pool. They'd not likely let you use a room.

If that fails, try a gym/health club. They might charge $5 or so, but worth it.

there is a free shuttle every 15 minutes in the park, take you all over if that changes your needs. I just took it this past weekend. I too had planned on the bike ride but did not find the wind or hills agreeable to my level of fitness....Nice way to say I was not up to the task. Park is pretty flat but going and coming in the park will be a task unless you are tip top shape

An alternative - use wet towlettes or baby wipes. You can do it in any restroom.

I also heard from a group, they exercise during lunch hour and use Febreeze.

Also spray desodorant and a little parfume or cologne may be helpful.
