Hi - hoping to stay at Signal Mt. Lodge in 2004 for two nights. Looking for an opinion on the room types. I have looked at the web site and wonder if the Lake Front retreats are worth the extra money. They look great, but is it that much better than the rustic cabins? Any tips appreciated!

My husband and five other men just stayed in a Lake Front Retreat room a few nights ago. He said the room was smaller than he had hoped but there were two queen beds and a couch--also a kitchenette.

The best part was the fabulous view of the Tetons and Jackson Lake out of large windows. I had told him to be sure to be there to see the sunset and he was not disappointed.

From what I understand these are the only rooms that face the lake.

We stayed at Signal Mountain Lodge in July of 2001. We stayed in one of the cabins. It had two bedrooms and shared a bath in the middle. It was great for our family of four. It had a front porch and we could see the view from everywhere on the property so I don't think the lakefront cabins are that necessary. However, we did not spend alot of time in our cabin. We were always out hiking, going to ranger talks, or rafting. The room wasn't anything fancy but clean, log cabin style and very functional.

My husband and I stayed in a deluxe country cabin last summer. Our cabin's front door opened to a view of the lake and it had a little porch which was nice for viewing the sunset. I feel that we had a great view of the lake! Our cabin was seperated from the lake front cabins by a small paved road/footpath. We had a living room, a seperate area with a king size bed, a full bath and a vanity sink. Rustic, don't expect a modern room. But, comfortable and clean. I would stay at sml again!

I was glad to have the info on the other accomodations. My husband was just there but would never have noticed what the other places looked like!!

We stayed with our family of 5 in a lakefront retreat in August 2001. Didn't get much of a look at the cabins so I can't compare. The lakefront retreats have a bedroom with 2 double beds and a bathroom and there is also a pull out couch in the living area. There is also a kitchenette. But the big plus is the view of the mountains and lake. Like nothing I've seen before. The units themselves are nothing fancy, but adequate.
