Sights between Capital Reef and Bluff,Utah
 

We'll be leaving Teasdale, Utah early morning and hope to arrive in Bluff by 5 p.m. Goblin Valley SP, Natural Bridges, Cedar Mesa, Valley of the Gods and Gooseneck SP all look intriguing. Which one or two would be the best to stop off at along the way? I realize we can't see much in a brief stop. Do any have drives/lookout points that do not require hikes to get to? We love hoodoos and red rock formations, but are open to any suggestions.

enjoy the the scenery and history of the Fruita/ Capitol reef area then take a short detour past hanksville to goblin valley which requires A very short walk from the parking lot to enjoy being down among the goblin hoodoos in goblin valley. No real hikes involved and you will enjoy two nice areas.

If you have seen any of the natural arches in ut, I don't think you will be that impressed with natural bridges. I'm not impressed with goosenecks. Valley of the gods is nice subject to the type of vehicle you are driving.

Where have you already visited? Makes a difference in recommendations. Goblin Valley is the most unique place on your list. It's like being on another planet and it can be enjoyed with just a short walk down among the goblins. It is a long drive in once you leave the highway.

Goosenecks can be enjoye in a few minutes, depending on how long you want to enjoy the view. If you have already seen Dead Horse Point and Island in the Sky at Canyonlands, then skip it.

Natural Bridges required hiking to appreciate. If you dont have time, save it for another trip.

Cedar mesa is amazing but involves lots of hiking to enjoy. If you want to do that--great, just say so and I can recommend some hikes. Or you can check out the Kane Gulch ranger website through the BLM. Natural Bridges--you really do have to hike into it vs. just seeing from the top.

I would do Goblin Valley and Little Wildhorse Canyon (practically the same spot as GV). You do "hike" in Little Wildhorse but it really is a walk along a canyon bottom and it is really cool.

Some other cool places near Bluff include; Wolfman Panel or sites along Butler Wash Road (in dry conditions a passenger car can do this), the petroglyphs at Sand Island near the San Juan River, or the 16 Room Cliff House.

Thanks for all your helpful comments. We will definitely try Goblin Valley. After Monument Valley we will be going on to Arches and Canyonlands. Is a jeep the type of vehicle that would be appropriate for Valkey of the Gods? Can we get a taste of it I. An hour or two?

Last May the road were very good with all type of normal cars on it. Even huge Class A RVs

When you drive in, about 100 yards,a creek must be crossed. It is usually dry.

Continue about 8 miles, then turn back as you have seen 90% of the scenery

Capitol Reef.
Apples should be ready for picking. Season ends about 17 October. Park rule: Eat all you want in the orchard, but pay by the pound if you take it out. A scale is by the orchard.
