Side Trips fromBoulder & Denver in late June.n
 

We will be attending a wedding in late June in Boulder. We would like to explore outside of Boulder with our teenage daughters for a day or two, Any Suggestions?

For starters, why not drive up to Rocky Mountain National Park? The road over Trail Ridge should be open by late June. <BR>You could drive over the pass and loop back to Denver via Georgetown and Silver Plume. If you want a slightly longer trip, take Trail Ridge Road and continue on to Leadville and return by way of Buena Vista and Colorado Springs. <BR>Some people like the drive up to the top of Mount Evans, but I have never wanted to risk it. There are lots of options and things to see. I am sure others will have some excellent suggestions. <BR>

Carol, <BR>I also highly recommend Rocky Mt. Nat. Park. You can drive through in a few hours. Georgetown has a great steam train and "old" stores for shopping. Pikes Peak is south near Colorado Springs in Maneto - neet town. Took us about 2 hrs. to drive from there to Denver to catch the plane. Have Fun.

A trip to the Rocky Mtn. Nat. Park is worth the drive. Drive over Trail Ridge Road and be sure to take a jacket and maybe even a hat! It is windy and cool up there at the top. The drive up Mt. Evans is not bad and there is LOTS of wildlife, mountain goats, mountain sheep and the marmots love to pose for the camera! The town of Golden is like an old west flavor and tour Coors Brewery or drive up to Fort Collins and tour the Bud Plant and see the clydesdale horses. The Peak to Peak road from Estes Park to Nederland is a nice alternate route to take through the mountains with lots of twist and turns. Take in some day hikes. The hikes at Bear Lake in RMNP are good starters. Have fun...be sure to drink lots of H2O and avoid alcohol the first couple of days to avoid elevation sickness.

<BR>I agree with the previous writers. As for Georgetown, if you are still in the area on July 4, the town has a wonderful old fashioned 4th of July celebration replete with parade, firemen races, picnic on the village green. We New Yorkers had a great time!
