Shuttle from Dulles to Dupont? Any other ideas?

Hi,
I've just emailed the hotel this question but you'll probably give me a faster answer.

We're flying into Dulles for our little Washington vacation next month and staying at Jury's Washington on Dupont Circle. Does anyone know if there's a shuttle bus from the airport to the hotel and, if so, how much it costs?

Any other suggestions for transportation? If we take a cab or an airport limo, what do you think the price would be? I recall cabs in Washington not being too expensive but there's probably a flat airport rate.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You can take a cab and the price is around $60.

You can take the metro shuttle bus from the airport to the metro stop closes to the airport which is Vienna on the orange line. You can then take the orange line to Faragut West adn then catch a cab to the hotel...you would be about 5 blocks from the hotel. Or you can continue on the orange line to Metro center, switch to the red line and get off at Dupont circle which is where your hotel is located.

check out www.wmata.com which is the metro web site. you can see the map for the metro system and be able to follow what I am saying above.

There's also a Metro bus that takes you from Dulles to either Rosslyn or L'Enfant Plaza Stations. It is cheaper than the shuttle to West Falls Church.

Dulles is really out of the way and it's tough to get into the city. That said, if you have a lot of luggage or don't want the hassle of mass transit, a cab is the best bet

Thanks for this.

I know -- I'm really sorry we have to land at Dulles but it was the best flight I could get time- and cost-wise. We're used to landing at National and it's such a short cab ride from there to wherever we're staying. Sixty-bucks for a cab seems like a lot and we'll only have carry-on, so unless there's a hotel shuttle, I guess we'll go the metro shuttle bus/metro system route.

Hotel shuttles are very uncommon unless the hotel is near the airport.

But sometimes hotels work with a hired shuttle company -- not that they own the vehicle on their own. For example, when we were recently in Paris, our hotel just arranged for a car to pick us up at the airport and it cost us 38 euros (19/pp)instead of the much higher amount a cab would cost us. I'm hoping Jury's has a similar arrangement. If not, we'll probably take the metro.
