shulas steak house orlando with kids
 

my wife and i are thinking of taking her mom and dad to shulas while we vist them in orlando . we have been there before and love it. the problem is we will have our kids 4 and 6 with us. have you ever ate there with kids ? how did the waite staff handle it. thanks

We have been to a different Shulas - I don't remember a kids menu - some restaurants do this to discourage kids.

Shula's is an upscale steakhouse. Outback would be a better fit for two young children.

No andy, I'm not trying to compare Outback and Shulas. I'm just saying for steak, Outback would be more kid friendly.

We went to the Shula's down in Orlando when the kids were about the ages of your kids. We had never been there before and I wanted to take my mom out for her birthday. It was much nicer than I had expected and I was pretty nervous when we were eating. They didn't have a kids menu and didn't have any plastic cups (with lids).

My son (was 6 or 7) almost leaped out of his seat when he saw the menu (ON A FOOTBALL!) I had to make sure he knew not to throw it. Luckily my kids like that type of food. They loved the salad, steak and potato. And it all worked out. They just weren't prepared with the usual kids menus and things like that. The wait staff weren't snobby about the kid thing. I do think I tipped our waiter pretty good after our meal!

If you go, I would take your own cups (unless you're comfortable with your kids drinking out of glasses) and if they're picky eaters, I'd bring things for them to eat.

You also may want to call them and see if they now have a kid-friendly atmosphere. Who knows? They may have changed. Good luck!

Are your kids comfortable with the behavior required in that type of restaruant? Are they able to sit quiety for 1.5/2hours while the adults enjoy dinner? Are they both big enough to eat comfortably from an adult chair? If so, it will probably be a pleasant experience. If not, then do yourselves - and the other diners - a favor and take the kids to a restaurant geared for them.
