Count me in at SS!

Not sure about the current status of the shrimp shack..but when we went to check it out in october 2004, they were shut-down due to a problem with the local shrimp farm or something like that. I would love to hear more about the details if anyone knows.

Budman,
Those of us going to Kaua`i in June/July/August are counting on your recon mission! -Bill |
The Shrimp Station has a web site. I was trying to find out more info prior to my trip to Kauai in July & I wound the address www.shrimpstation.com Looke like its under construction but you can still see what it looks like.

OK, here goes -- Shrimp Station is Numero Uno!!! My wife still talks about it. We had lunch there twice. I believe it's closed in the evenings -- at least it was when we passed by.
Her favorite was the Sweet Chili Garlic Shrimp plate served with 2 scoops of rice. Mine was the Thai. She thought the Thai was a little too hot & spicy for a warn, sunny afternoon, but I loved it. Cost -- $11-12. They also serve water & soda for $1. Someone mentioned it was a BYOB, so I sat out at the picnic table and had a couple of beers. You had to peel your own shrimp. They had a deep sink with soap & paper towels to wash up afterwards. If you're going to be in Waimea, definitely stop by for lunch. If you're staying up North or East, I wouldn't recommend driving to the West just for Shrimp Station, but if you've never been to Kauai, you've gotta see the Canyon, so a lunch stop would be in order.
