Show or King Tut?

I'm planning a surprise weekend getaway to Philadelphia for my wife and I on Labor Day weekend and want some opinions on what to do there. I'd love to do both of these, but the money just isn't there.

We live in Lancaster, and plan on taking Amtrak into Philly on Saturday Sep. 1st.

Option 1: Get a nice dinner and then see Wicked at the Academy. Stay overnight and walk around seeing the normal sights on Sunday Sep. 2nd and then head home late afternoon.

Option 2: Get a nice dinner and then walk around (South Street?). Stay overnight and go to the King Tut exhibit at the Franklin Institute the next day before heading home in the late afternoon.

www.gophila.com has a special for the Tut exhibit, so we could stay at the Courtyard across from City Hall for $199 including tix to Tut. If we do the show instead, it's $149.50 hotel + $160 for nice tix to the show.

Thoughts?

I saw the Tut exhibit last month and wasn't that impressed (it was neat, but not a whole lot of artifacts), so I'd go with the show.

It is really a question of what you like to do most.

We saw the King Tut. I would give it a seven on a scale of ten. It is impressive but it doesn't knock your socks off.

OMG, if Wicked is one of the options, there is one "right" answer IMO. The show!

The King Tut exihibit is way overpriced. It was interesting, but not for what they charge.

Wicked would be a great option; I am curious as to where the seats are.

We saw King Tut last year in Ft Lauderdale. I'm glad we got comp tickets. At that price it was barely worth it.

See the show. Wait for King Tut the movie.

Again, see "Wicked."

The so-called King Tut exhibit has none of the most celebrated objects found in the King Tut Tomb.

Oh I know the art museum is wonderful; we've been there many times.

Thank you all for your input. It turns out that my wife had to work this weekend but I will keep your ideas in mind for when the trip does materialize.
