Show in NYC

My hubby and I will be in NYC the weekend of Dec. 8-11th. We'd like to see a show but we've seen most of the popular Broadway shows...wondering if anyone has any recommendations of anything that will be playing? Maybe one with a celebrity cast member? Thanks!

The revival of The Front Page sounds perfect for you. It stars many stars including Nathan Lane and John Goodman. The show is selling out, so get tickets soon.

I gather by "shows", you mean a musical, right? Because there are many plays that will have well-known cast-members.

But if you've already seen Beautiful, Fiddler on the Roof, Lion King, School of Rock, Kinky Boots, Chicago, Book of Mormon, Phantom, Wicked, Cats and JErsey Boys, I don't think there is any other great musical playing. And I don't think any of those have any celebrity in them right now. Peter Scolari is in Wicked, I've always liked him but he may not be your idea of someone to go see. Falsettos is opening soon, you could look at that. I'm not even going to mention Hamilton.

I don't know much about how Waitress is reviewed, never seen it but it's around.

How about On Your Feet? Think you'd have to like that kind of Latin music.

I've seen most of the above but my taste isn't necessarily the mainstream as I disliked Wicked and Book of Mormon. Did like all of the others, though. If you've never seen Cats or Chicago, some people make fun of them just because they are so popular, I guess (espec Cats), but I think both of them are some of the best musicals I've ever seen.

Christina, I thought we were the only people who didn't like BOM and Wicked.
We loved Beautiful and liked Kinky Boots.
I love Nathan Lane, so Front Page would be on my list.

Falsettos is getting particularly good word of mouth. There's also a new acapella show called In Transit (plays downstairs from Wicked). But it doesn't have any "name" celebrities.
