I married into the clan myself. The dummies even had a castle in the family at one point. I was wondering how many other Irish or "married Irish" were Fodorites.

Yup Irish here, red hair and green eyes to prove it. Also have that skin that burns when I LOOK at the sun.

I've never been and THIS year I am going to see the Parade on 5th AVe. IT's the biggest parade in NYC every year and I figured I would see it and since ALL my clothing is green, lol, I won't have a problem finding something to wear.

Mom is 100%. Lots of family in Ireland.

Once tried to drink green beer but the color got in the way of the enjoyment.

I'd love to surprise my husband with a trip to his ancestral home in the future. His parents went on a tour there for their 50th anniversary and loved it.
My late father in law was a cop for thirty years, very opinionated and fun to verbally spar with. I always loved the spirit of the Irish personality! To him, the Kennedy's were the best thing since sliced bread. His relatives are all from the Galway area.
I myself have German and Russian heritage, along with some Eastern European, but I do love my Bailey's, especially in coffee, or blended with ice and amaretto!

I am half Irish (dad), half Polish (mom). Unfortunately, I don't remember where in Ireland my dad's family originated.

Saturday night we'll be next door at our Irish (him) & Italian (her) neighbor's house for their annual St. Patty's party. In October I started taking violin lessons and have been working on Danny Boy--if I feel brave enough perhaps I'll play a tune or two.

I'm Irish after dark. Does that count for anything? :-) ((b))

100% Irish here - my dad was a native Irish speaker from the Dingle Pennisula. Can't pick up a calendar or coffee table book about Ireland without a picture of his village being in it. My brother still lives there. My mom is from Mayo but grew up in Dublin.

My maternal grandmother was the first native born American in her family...everyone else came over from Ireland! They were from the village of Feakle in Co. Clare.

My husband was adopted, so he's unsure of his actual ethnic heritage, but he has red hair and also sunburns very easily, so you be the judge!

Not one drop of Irish blood in my body, but there's a whole lot of Irish in my mind.

Until I was about 15, I lived within an Irish area of Chicago. I was the only Italian. Guess who house everybody came to for dinner? I took Irish dancing lessons for about 8 years and can still do pretty well.

And to this day at least 50% of my life-long friends are Irish, some from Ireland. And I have a couple of Grandsons that have s smidgen of Ireland in them, as well.

And my skin is red head skin too- but that comes from my German ancestors. We had glorious weather for the Southside Parade last Sunday. Today we are supposed to get some snow. But yes want to say Happy St. Patricks Day to all those who celebrate.

I am invited to two different parties tomorrow night, and getting over sick or not- I'll be at one of them for sure.

And not to forget that St. Joseph's Day is Sunday.

Oh yes, I also have a brand new daughter in law, a beautiful Kathleen with green emerald eyes. She's 1/2 Irish.

I'm a quarter Irish and my DH is half-Irish - and our DD is the driving factor behind our trip planning for Ireland next year - she wants to see her heritage!

fun to see your replies and individual family heritage info... I like celebrating all holidays, but this one is a bit more special to me. My family on the dh side live for St. Patrick's Day. I think because they feel they can be outrageous and have a valid excuse,lol.

I'm going to wear my Kiss Me I'm Irish t-shirt tomorrow and get a little jiggy with it--could make for an interesting Friday ;-)

Paddy is driving home after downing a few at the local pub. He turns a corner and much to his horror he sees a tree in the middle of the road. He swerves to avoid it and almost two late realizes that there is another directly in his path. He swerves again and discovers that his drive home has turned into a slalom course, causing him to veer from side to side to avoid all the trees.
Moments later he hears the sound of a police siren and brings his car to a stop. The officer approaches Paddy's car and asks him what on earth he was doing. Paddy tells his story of the trees in the road when the officer stops him mid sentence and says, " Fer crissakes Paddy, that's yer air freshener!"

I'm not Irish but my husband his. So I play along in the fun. Tonight we are hosting a card party just for the fun of it. We have decorated and I even built a snowman wearing the green in the front yard. The darn thing melted though so I have to build another snowman tonight :-) My house will be full of Irish people tonight! My head hurts already :-<
