Sunday dinner with a crowd of very good friends is grilled salmon washed down with Broadley Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. I'm praying the rain does truly hold off until late Sunday.
Sunday am is brunch with neighbors up the street and their 2 and 5 yo girls. Oh, the fun I had putting a basket together! We're laughing because I bought a tiny stuffed peeping chick and a stuffed duckling that quacks, quacks, quacks when squeezed. We imagine their parents driving by some night and throwing the toys through our window.
I am also praying the salmon arrives as planned from Pure Fish in the Pike Market(Seattle).

Here's something to try with ham, it is always a hit. Before baking ham, score in diamonds about 1/2 inch into ham. (Cut top of ham diagnally, across to form diamonds, about 1/2 inch deep.)
Place ham in a 13 x 9 pan diamonds up, mix 2 parts citrus fruit juice and 1 part water (about a cup total) Minute maid pulp free orange juice or pineapple juice works well, experimenting is fun here try anything fruity and citrusy. Pour over ham and into pan, bake loosely covered with foil until almost done. Mix 1/2 cup Heinz Honey Hickory BBQ sauce with 1/4 cup of whatever juice you used. Baste the ham at least twice during last 15-20 minutes of cooking time, more if desired, watch as can burn easily, baste with pan drippings at final basting. When placing ham on serving platter pour pan drippings over ham, or reserve pan drippings and when serving ham put a tbsp or so of drippings on the slices.
I am always asked to bring this ham.
Once I decided to try this on chicken, but only had apple juice, or so I thought, after placing chicken and juice in pan, I realized it was white grape juice not apple. Amazingly it was wonderful.Cranberry juice works well on chicken too.
BON APPETITE!!
