Shoulder season
 

When is the shoulder season for Catalina Island? I would like to visit when the Avalon is at it's cheapest!

Do you know if I can swim at that time of year?

There are basically 2 seasons on Catalina:

Low from the middle/end of October through mid-May, and High from mid-May til October. Swimming is doable (assuming you have a tolerance for cold water) in the summer.

I will probably look at early May. Warmer is better for me!
