Should we stay in Anaheim
My husband and I will be spending 4 days (5 nights) in LA. We are planning on having two days and Disneyland/California Adventure, one day at Universal and one day we will be doing a city tour. I know Anaheim is great for Disneyland but a long way for Universal and the city tour, but we didn't really want to have to change hotels. Where would be the best area to stay given our planned activities.

Because you are spending two full days at Disneyland/Calif., and the other two days at separate day-long activities, I would opt for the hotel closer to Disney.
The other days, you have a single destination in the morning--You stay most of the day, and then return to the hotel at the end of your day. At Disneyland, I would recommend time in the parks alternated with some rests (lunch, pool, etc) back at the hotel or at Downtown Disney. Some of this depends on how you travel and how you approach Disneyland (as our kids got older, they opt for more time just going attraction to attraction), but over two days, you might appreciate the access to your "home base." |
Since traffic can be difficult for out-of-towners, I'd say two nights in Anaheim and 3 nights in Hollywood/West Hollywood or Burbank. You would have time to visit Warner Brothers or NBC too, on the morning of your Universal Tour day. The Getty is a do-not-miss as well.

Thanks for your advice, can anyone also advise, if we do decide to stay at the two different locations, which would be the best to leave from to drive to Las Vegas, Anaheim or Hollywood/Burbank, or is there no real difference?

You are right it is not a big difference. We often do this itinerary and stay in Hollywood forst and then Disney. It is about a hour or so closer to Vegas. ALso I figure when you are driving their you are excited so time goes by more quickly. Have fun!
