Should we do a coffee tour while in Kona? Any recs?
We'll be in Kona in October for a few days and I'm wondering if there is a good coffee tour that is a 'must-do'?
THANKS! |
I did a coffee tour at Greenwell, worth a stop, but it was only about a 15 minute tour, not a big commitment. We just showed up, it right in the area with the Painted Church and the Place of Refuge.

We also did a Kona coffee "tour" of one of the larger concerns (perhaps Mauna Loa?), whose name escapes me 12 years later. Took about 10 minutes, while the coffee was brewing.
|
We stopped for a tour at Holualoa Kona Coffee and thought it was worthwhile. Most of these small farms are very low key and low tech. It was just the two of us and took about 15-20 minutes.

Bayview Farms is my favorite. It is located 1/4 mile from the Painted Church (vicinity of City of Refuge)
www.bayviewfarmcoffees.com Gazebo to sample the coffees. Tour the roaster if you please. Bayview is a processor: if coffee in season during your visit, you can take the tour to see how they "process" the "cherries" into green coffee beans. |
