Should we book at a Ramada Inn?

We will be travelling and would love some opinions on Ramada Inns. We have read that some of the Holiday Inns can be run-down, does that apply to Ramadas as well? Courtyards seem to get the best reviews. Thanks, everyone!

I've never had a problem with either a Ramada or a Holiday Inn being run-down. If you're expecting a five-star hotel, then you will be disappointed, but if you're just looking for a clean, comfortable room for a night, then these chains are fine.

David -- you might want to do a search through previous posts. Similar topics have surfaced and people gave many opinions on the different hotel/motel chains. Seems to me that if a place has been renovated and is part of the chain, it's consistently fine. If it was independently owned/operated, it *might* be rundown. We usually stay at Best Westerns; some people don't like those. Do a search. <BR>

Thanks for the advice. Did a search and found lots of posts to help us.

I travel regularly for business and have found Hampton Inn and Mictrotel to be totally consistent from one location to the next. All the properties were fairly new (in many cases brand new) and perfectly maintained. Marriot Townplace Suites are also a very good choice in the moderate ($50-70) price range but are just being built this year and are not open yet in many areas. I still believe that many of the non-corporate owned chains such as Holiday Inn, Comfort Inn, Ramada and Quality Inn are a mixed lot and unpredictable.
