Should I fly into Boston or Providence?
I plan on spending a week on Cape Cod. Comments on this forum make me wonder just how bad Logan airport is. I can fly into Providence just as cheaply and it doesn't appear to be much further to the Cape than from Boston. Can someone compare the two airports?

I've actually never flown into Providence, I always go to Logan (I live in Massachusetts) because usually the prices and the flight schedule require it. But the traffic is horrendous. And if you are headed to the Cape on a summer weekend the traffic will be horrendous all the way there. I think if the price is the same, and the Cape is your destination you would be much better off flying into Providence.

I have been in and out of Boston a few times, as has my wife on separate trips. Assuming the airfare is equal, and you going to the Cape, I think Providence is easier to get out of and back into with a rental car. But the day and the hour make a differenc.

If the fare to Boston is 20% cheaper or more, then you might have to decide on convenience versus savings.
If you fly into Boston early on Sunday morning, the traffic is not so bad. But Friday afternoons can be frustrating.

I live right near the Cape and do a lot of business travel. Even though the company pays for the flights I usually go by convience depending on what time I'm leaving and the flight schedules. Like the previous person mentioned in the summer Cape traffic is horendous and VERY frustrating. Not only is it Cape traffic but also typical rush hour traffic. Either way on a weekend going into the Cape (friday or saturday morning that is) your gonna get a LOT of traffic. It won't be so bad from Providence as apposed to Boston. The construction at Logan is ridiculous but it is easy to get out as long as you follow the AWFUL signage and beware of physcotic drivers. Providence has minimal construction going on right now but it extremly easy to get out and right on 95 to the Cape. But the traffic can be frustrating. So if I were you I would really go by convience and rental car/airfare prices to help make your decision. Again keep in mind the time of day your arriving here and the day of the week. Have a good trip, any questions feel free to email me..

Radger,
Have been in and out of both Logan and TF Green (Providence). For just access to the Cape go via Providence. The airport Is right off I 95 with easy access. Short hop to the cape via Fall River (on I 195). Unless you get much better rates avoid Logan. It's a nightmare during rush hour.
