should I cancel my trip b/c of storms in East?
We are supposed to leave tomorrow for a 4 wk trip on the east coast. Flying to Dulles, then staying Williamsburg, OBX, Charleston, Savannah, St Augustine, Asheville, NC, then thru VA, Gettysburg and back to Dulles to come home.
I am concerned about the storm and the damage it has caused. Wondering if I should cancel or postpone my trip? Any advice from those of you there? |
I'm actually flying out of Dulles tonight for the UK. According to the airport's website there are currently no flight delays and that "storm" has left town...although we are experiencing high wind gusts at the moment.
I would not cancel a trip. |
I would not cancel. We have high winds and it is a bit chilly here in Piedmont North Carolina, but a warming trend is on the way.

It is gorgeous and sunny here on the coast of South Carolina. Windy but that will all be gone by tomorrow.

I think it was worse further North along the coast - or at least that's what it looked like on the news this a.m. In Asheville we've had high winds, some downed power lines but it is just windy and mostly sunny today. This storm is moving quickly.

Well we've had almost 9 incehs of rain in Central Park and there's a lot of local flooding, train delays of 15/30 minutes and flight delays (only 15 to 30 minutes at JFK, more at LGA - but that's because they always run at max.). But it's just rain and wind, the storm should be over by tonight and flooding issues resolved by tomorrow.
The only people with real problems are the ones with houses in low-lying areas that have to have their flooded basements pumped out, and a few townhouses in Staten Island that were apparently built overlooking the harbor with insuficient bases (a retaining wall fell apart and now the houses may not be safe). But - nothing that should be a problem for tourists. |
No storm issues here in Williamsburg or in the Outer Banks. It's very windy and a bit on the cool side.
I wouldn't postpone the trip! |
OK, thanks for the updates. We're on our way tomorrow a.m.!
