Well, in my original post I expressed concern about RAIN, you can bet your bippy that I won't be anywhere near New Orleans if there is any problem.
Having said that, I will go if it turns out to be nothing more than rain for NO.
We are obviously at the mercy of the storm, the airline and the hotel.
I am pretty sure the decision will be made for us ;)
I'm still hoping for the best, though!

It looks like things will probably be back to normal by Friday. It may be a little quieter than normal though.

Well, TxTravelPro, I hope your trip is back on. I have an odd feeling that New Orleans is going to be in a huge party mood this weekend!

There is some confusing info on the hotel's website. At first they said they would be open today, then Friday and now it says Monday.
It looks like AA will be flying on Friday... and the weather looks great.
I guess I just have to wait and see what the hotel decides to do...

My understanding is that there is substantial power outage in NO, so that might be the cause of slower reopenings.

Depending on how long you plan to stay in NO, you might also keep an eye out for TS Ike.

Well...I can't seem to get the 5 day link to work. If you'll go to
www.nhc.noaa.gov you should be able to acess it.

Well, the decision has been made for us... we will not be able to go.
The reason? The hotel employees are having a hard time getting back to the city.
The earliest they can be up is Sunday and they are not too sure they will be fully staffed.
There is a lot of pressure because the Saints game is 'on'.
So, we will reschedule for this fall... which is not too bad anyway :)

NeoPatrick Sep 3rd, 2008 05:12 AM

Well at least it should be a good bit cooler in the fall as well!

And it's probably not just the employees having problems getting to work. Large parts of the city are still without power as of this morning. Not a good time to be there.
