Queen Anne or Belltown Hotel
Help Seattle Peeps!
Coming to your city next May and am looking at two different hotels: The Maxwell on Roy St. in Queen Anne or Hotel Five 5th Avenue in Belltown. Have heard varying reviews of the safety of Belltown - yet, the reviews are pretty dated. We will be without a car and staying for two days. What would y'all suggest? Thanks!!

In my view the Hotel Five is in a better location; it's just on the northern edge of the central commercial district, walkable from most downtown activities or just a short bus ride away. The Maxwell is more convenient to Seattle Center (Space Needle etc.) but less convenient to most other tourism destinations. There are also more restaurants in walking range of the Hotel Five.
The Hotel Five's location is quite safe; you're actually several blocks from the core of "Belltown," which these days is also quite tame.

Without a car, Hotel Five is a better, more central location.
I worked in Belltown for many years, live on Capitol Hill, work in Pioneer Square now.
I would have no concerns about safety of the location from that hotel. It's in a busy part of the downtown core. Lots of people out and about.
As mentioned above it's a bit out of the way from the bars (when people talk about "safety in Belltown" it's typically because of a fight at 2am when the bars left out, something along those lines, nothing ever against tourists doing normal activities that I am aware of).
