Short Trips from Kansas City, KS area
 

I'm looking to take my family on a short (3 day) trip over the Christmas Holiday from the Kansas City area. We're huge sports fans and we love zoos, restaurants, outdoor activities and museums. We'll be traveling with 3 teenagers. Suggestions?

My first suggestions would be Omaha and St. Louis, but those are kind of obvious so you've probably already been. If not, post back and I'll give more details about those two cities.

Omaha has a world class zoo and (about 25 miles southwest of town) the SAC Museum which is a must visit for aviation buffs.

Wichita has the next best zoo in this part of the country and many good museums.

Hutchinson has the Cosmosphere (one of the best space museums in the world) and a museum in a salt mine. Hutchinson and Wichita can be on the same trip and you could circle through Newton and visit the Kansas Sports Museum. http://www.kansastravel.org/kansassportsmuseum.htm
