short trips from gulf shores
I am working in gulf shores, alabama for the next 3 weeks.
I would like to take some side trips Fri/ Sat/Sun. I am 54 woman who would love to find some good music mostly and also restuarnats in safe environment. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! |
Can't help you with music, but definitely check out Fairhope, AL, for cute shops, restaurants, etc.

Also check out Point Clear Marriott Grand Hotel: http://www.marriottgrand.com/
Here is a exerpt from list from the 100 dishes to try in Alabama before you die: Cheesecake at Hope's Cheesecake Fried blue crab claws with remoulade sauce at King Neptune's Fried oysters at the Original Oyster House "L.A. (Lower Alabama) Caviar" at Lulu's Steaks at Nolan's Here is a website that you can fine tune your likes of type of food, etc.: http://www.gulfshores.com/ I like the Louisiana Lagniappe at San Roc Cay, Lulu's (entertainment there, & she is Jimmy Buffet's sis), King Neptunes looks like a dump but it has great food. I also really like the Original Oyster House, but go early as there are sometimes long lines ( good Sunday Buffet too). If you are big on breakfast, I hear Tacky Jack's is the place to be (I'm not). Perdido Beach Resort has a 4 or 5 star chef in there Voyager Restaurant, I believe - it was great when we ate there a couple years ago. They also have a bar in the lobby of the resort with entertainement (piano, & singer). I'm not a fan, but the FloraBama just across the bridge (in FL) is famous for it's wild campy entertainment. |
Also, in Fairhope is Gambino's and Wintzell's - both great!

Well, I guess that answered all your questions??((H))
