Short trip to Chicago with VRBO rental

Who we are: Three friends from high school days.
Why we went:
a. one friend's son (my godson) is starring in a play in Chicago and we wanted to see it.
b. it is a great town.
Roadblock: We picked the same weekend the restaurant owners' convention was in town...in other words hotel rooms were sky high and many were booked.
Solution: VRBO 71108 For $300 per night we rented a two bedroom(one twin bedded room, one king) one bath condo at 30 East Huron. The condo had a great city view which included the lake (albeit a pretty small part of the lake). The location is superb, restaurants are close by as is shopping (Michigan Ave, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, boutiques). $40 cab ride from O'Hare. The condo is described as wireless, but we were unable to get a connection. It is sparely furnished and a bit worn, but other than those two issues it is as described on the site. I would definitely rent it again.
Where we ate: We had several meals with friends so we only did a few restaurants.
Bistro 110- I liked it. Good food and exceptional service.
Park Grill- It was fine, but location is it's greatest asset.
Pierrot Gourmet- This was very good. It is a small restaurant in the Peninsula, near our condo, which was perfect for breakfast.
Il Appetito-a small Italian restaurant in the condo building. Actually very good. I would recommend it for a quick meal.
Chicago lived up to its description as the windy city and it was a bit chilly; but, I thought it was a lovely spring weekend. I look forward to my next visit!

Glad you had a good time, but "windy city" was originally coined as a reference to the city's blustery politicians and not the weather.

Hope you come back again when you can spend some time along the lake as it's probably the city's greatest asset.

The play I saw is about Chicago politics, so I guess I got the windy city both ways.

I look forward to a return. Beautiful public spaces in Chicago, great walking town.
