Short term (1 week) rental in the Keys

Hello all, I've heard that short term rentals are no longer permitted on the Keys...is this true??
SO
Short answer, yes. The prohibition applies to residential zones in unicorporated Monroe County. There are a couple of incorporated towns in the Keys that may or may not have different rules. The bottom line is that it will (generally) now be very difficult to find a house to rent for a week or so.

Scott,

Not So! Key West city officials have not voted on or "holding it up. You can rent a house for 1 week just like I do every year. Untill the city officials vote, their still no problem as of today! I'm not sure about the other keys, but I think it is not true within Islamorda or some of the lower keys.

Just to follow Ron,
Key West, Islamorada, and two or three other towns in the Keys are incorporated, so they have their own rules. BUT the majority of the Keys are unincorporated, which means that there will now be increased competition for the short term rentals on Keys that still allow it. I wouldn't be surprised to see the price of Ron's rental going up significantly in the next few years.
