Shore Excursions

We are traveling to the Alaska's "Inside Passage" in July on a Princess ship. Having never traveled to Alaska, I was hoping to get some suggestions on the best shore excursions/activities in Ketchikan, Juneau and Skagway. Thanks for your help.

I have been on an Alaskan cruise twice now and by far the most incredible excursion I've ever taken was the dog sled/glacier helicopter trip out of Juneau. It's pricey but worth every single penny. Absolutely amazing. We actually rode with dogs who had run the iditarod. Land on the glacier was breathtaking. We also enjoyed our 6 hour jeep excursion in Skagway. You can email me ([email protected]) if you'd like more detailed descriptions. Have fun - it's a once in a lifetime experience.

Look over a shore excursion list and narrow down your interests. There are way too many excellent tours to recommend. Budget fully, this isn't the place to skimp.

While we didn't do the sledding (we did that on wheels in Seward) we DID do the helicopter/glacier landing in Juneau and it was FANTASTIC!!!! Do this! We also went kayaking in Ketchikan and loved it. ALL the advice we got on this forum was not to skimp on excursions and it was very good advice. We made quite a few arrangements on our own and not through our ship and that went well and saved some $$.
