Shops in Old Alexandria

We will be visiting DC in a few weeks and I was wondering if the stores in Old Alexandria are open late. I see that the Torpedo Museum is open until 7 on Thursdays so I thought it may be an option to go to Old Alexandria on Thursday evening. I have only been there during the day.

Just FYI (no snark :-) ), it's called Old Town Alexandria. I haven't been there in the evening in ages, so can't help otherwise!

Thanks. I knew that. Not sure why I did not type that.

It's a mixed bag of hours for closing but there is nothing special about Thursday as a late night for shopping. To generalize, I'd say the places on the lower end of King Street (where the Torpedo Factory is located) are probably open later like until 7, especially the specialized chains like Anthropologie, La Sur Table and Paper Source. Harder to say with the one off's though. Unless the weather is bad, there will be lots of people wandering around for dinner, drinks or ice cream.

Before I'm corrected, I'll self edit: Sur La Table. If you like Crate & Barrel, there is an outlet shop near the top of King St a short distance from the metro station. I typically walk out of there with some trinket I didn't know I needed.

Thank you for the warning obxgirl. My sister is a Sur La Table junkie with a small addiction to Crate & Barrel.

I didn't know Sur la Table was there! Thanks?! I love that place, made a special stop at the one near Powell's in Portland. Now I'm inclined to visit Old Town on our next trip to DC...

Btw, is there something wrong with correcting a place name? In this case it was just a typo, but unwittingly using the wrong name for something could really goof up trip research.

No, of course not. It was meant as self recrimination for mistyping and irritation that there is no editing function. No offense intended.
