shopping in Orlando
Just curious for any suggestions on the best shopping spots in Orlando. Girl's weekend so high on the agenda is shopping, eating and the odd martini .. not necessarily in that order!
Thanks for any advice :) |
Definitely Belz outlets at the end of International Drive.

The Mall at Millenia is a beautiful, upscale mall in Orlando.
|
If you have a car you might also consider Park Avenue in Winter Park which combines shopping and restaurants (mostly non-chain) and a number of good places for a martini.

Where are you staying in Orlando? The city has malls and shopping areas in every direction. Are you looking for malls, outlet malls, or boutique shops?
As mikesmom mentioned, the Mall at Millenia is the area's upscale mall, anchored by Macy's and Bloomingdale's. You might also consider Florida Mall, which has Saks, Pottery Barn, etc. Other malls include Fashion Square (downtown), Altamonte (north area), Oviedo Marketplace (near UCF), and Seminole Town Center (near Sanford airport). There are also several open-air shopping centers, such as Waterford Lakes (east), Shoppes at Colonial (downtown), Winter Park Villages, and a new one in Winter Garden that I can't remember the name of (west). Both Disney and Universal have shopping areas: Disney Marketplace and Downtown Disney, and CityWalk for Universal. I prefer Disney Marketplace, but younger folks gravitate to CityWalk. The most popular outlet malls are Belz outlet near Universal and Premium Outlets near Disney. There are also smaller outlet malls in the area. Boutique shopping usually means heading to Winter Park (the Park Avenue area). Haven't been there in awhile, but local newspaper gives the impression that things are not quite what they used to be there. There is a wonderful museum adjacent to the shopping area, featuring Tiffany glass. And another museum, the Polasek, features art and a sculpture garden. If you are into vintage and antigues, browse the area around Mills Avenue and Virginia Drive, or consider driving north to Mount Dora. There are also areas within an hour of Orlando that have quaint, old downtown areas, such as Cocoa and Melbourne. They are nice areas for coffee, browsing, and lunch. |
Belz outlets are now called Prime Outlets .

Great overview, rascat. We need to go shopping one of these days. :-)
DH was in Winter Park this week. He says one of the chains (possibly Ann Taylor?) was closing, but otherwise things looked good. Let's cross our fingers! |
The one in Winter Garden is Winter Garden village at Fowlers Grove.
I would recommend the new Prime outlets that replaced the Belz outlets on the North end of International drive. To many stores to list. Right across the street is Festival bay which is where Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World is located, there is also a Ron Jons surf shop. The Mall of Millenia is just down the road so you could easily hit all three in one day. Happy shopping! |
My fave is Millenia, then Florida Mall if I have extra time. Park Avenue is fine for a nice outside lunch, otherwise skip it. We went there on our last girls' trip and said we wouldn't go back.
