Shopping in Kauai
 

I'm looking to do some shopping while my husband goes deep sea fishing one day on Kauai. Does anyone know of a neat area?

I remember in Maui last year having fun in Paia shopping (that's the town near Mama's Fish House). It was just a little different than then norm. Know a place like that? I'm not picky though. Any suggestions are appreciated.

We're staying at the Hyatt, but really shopping anywhere is fine.

Hmmmmmm....maybe I can add "shopping" to my "Not on Kauai" list?

Poipu has nice little shopping center and it's close to your hotel.

Some little shops in Koloa too.
The "mall" on Kauai is in Lihue, Kukui Grove.

Nawiliwili has the Anchor Cove area. The Marriott as some little shops.

Coconut Marketplace in Kapaa. Old Town Kapaa. Princeville has their shopping center but it was a bit "sparse" last year.

"Ching Young Village" in Hanalei has some nice little places too. I try and pick up something in "Hot Rocket" everytime I go. The owner cracks me up.

Just walk up the road in Hanalei and hit some of the shops where Mrs Kal has bought "a few" items.
A trip out to Hanapepe and Waimea would be nice, too.
Nice little place in Wailua next to Caffe Cocco, too.

Maui mo' bettah when it comes to serious shoppers, IMHO.

As usual, Kal has given you good advice. I agree Kauai is not, in my experience, shoppers heaven unless you're talking about jewelry. I didn't spend much time on the north shore so I don't know about the shops there.

Being Queen of the shoppers, I can tell you my only major purchase was at the gift shop at the Allerton Gardens and I'd definitely recommend that as a wonderful way to spend some time while dh fishes. (Spouting Horn is across the way and it's not far from your hotel). It requires a reservation and is really a worthwhile half day. I later found out the item I purchased was available on the mainland but it's still a nice remembrance of the trip :S-

I liked the Kalapaki Beach area that has two small shopping centers along the edge of Nawiliwili Harbor.There is a store, Tropical Tantrum, that has clothing, shoes, jewelry etc...
Also, you might like the Kapaa-Wailua area, no. of Lihue, on the east side of the island.
You will enjoy just strolling around and looking at different things they have to offer.

As the resident Kaua`i shopper here, I'm impressed with all the lists you've been given.

I always point folks toward Hanalei's assortment (and ever-changing) little shops -- especially for locally made items.

Also the Friday-Saturday-Sunday "fair" roadside in Kapa`a can be fun (north end of town).

Anything new in the building next to Bubba's, opposite the Hanalei Gourmet side? I recall having to hold a purse one time while clothes were being tried on.
