Scattered among the many chain stores, one can still find a few interesting, independent boutiques. But they are a rare breed.
Between this post and your other one on restaurants I fear u may have a long ago Georgetown in your mind. Its really not at all what it used to be. Lots of nice houses though.

Just returned - M29 Lifestyle is super cool. It's called M29 because it originally was on M and 29th. But it has just expanded and is now in an alley right across form the Four Seasons. The shops on the corner where it used to be looked interesting as well.
