Shopping in Commerce, GA
We are going to be in Atlanta next week and thinking about going to Commerce outlet stores to shop. Any fodors.com people went there? What should we know about stores? Are they all located next to each other? Do they have any good prices this time of the year? Anything else we should know about this place? Any good place to have lunch? Thanks

The Commerce outlet stores are on both sides of I-85. Sometime I've found good prices, and sometimes I haven't. I think most of the places to eat are fast-food places, but I'm not sure. There is a pottery warehouse (on the right side of I-85) that's has pretty good shopping. I thinks it's at exit 153 on Interstate 85.

I am not sure of the exit number, but the cross highway is US 441.
The stores seem to change every week, and prices are sometimes good, sometimes bad. If you don't know the range in prices of what you are looking for, it is hard to say. There is a web site http://www.tangeroutlet.com/ You can get a current list of stores from the web site. I am not sure just how accurate "current" might be, but it will give you a good idea. The percentage discounts often don't mean much because the mark down is from some price nobody pays to start with. Even though I live less than 30 miles away, we don't go there very often. |
I like the North Georgia Premium Outlets better. The outlets include Saks, Barneys, Crate&Barrel, William Sonoma, etc....generally higher end merchandise and better deals. They are located on GA 400 in Dawsonville. It takes about the same amount of time to drive from downtown Atlanta to Commerce as it takes to drive to Dawsonville.

I second the vote for North Georgia Premium Outlets. They have a food court located on site as well and I think they have built a Ruby Tuesday's nearby now.

Thank you for your useful comments. Unfortunately I won't have my own car on this business trip and one person with a car decided that Commerce is the place to shop.
