Shopping in Austin

Where should a 24 year old woman go around downtown Austin if she only had a half day to do some clothes/shoes shopping?

Barton Creek Mall or Highland Mall. Go to the LBJ Library or the capitol building. Much more interesting than the mall.

Actually, I inquired for my daughter. I can anticipate a couple of rolled eyeballs, but I'll suggest the library. Sounds like a great idea. Thanks -

To really experience Austin, I would suggest going down South Congress or around 6th and Lamar. All of these stores are Austin-owned, and very, very unique and trendy. I'm a college student, and these places never fail to entertain me!
I suggest on SoCo (South Congress):
Good Two Shoes, Pink, Blackmail, just to name a few...
Around 6th and Lamar: Emeralds (a must!), By George, BookPeople, (around Lamar and 11th: Fetish, Wildflower)

Hope she enjoys it!

Thanks a lot for the tips. Now all she has to do is figure out how to cram as much as she can in half a day.
