Shopping for local arts ,jewelry and crafts
May have an 8-10 day opportunity 1st week in July to plan a shopping trip to Arizona .Thought we would start in Phoenix and head towards Flagstaff..Want to hit as many "local" artists stands (not retail stores) Would love to know about arts and craft shows and even flea markets or weekend markets on that route..We own a small gallery that sells handmade jewelry,crafts and clothing.
Tried looking for a site that lists local shows but was not successful..
If we leave late June for 10 days should we reserve hotels or could we just "wing it"..we are ok with moderate lodging ,more into the local culture ,scenery,food and of course shopping?

We just got back from a trip to AZ. My favorite shopping was the Navajo stands along Hwy 64 between the Grand Canyon and Cameron. The biggest concentration of them was at the eastern most overlook of the Little Colorado.

Sedona: Garland's on 179 at the Tlaquepaque (t-LAH-ka-PAH-key) Bridge for rugs, woven articles; Garland's on 89A in Oak Creek Canyon about five miles north of town for jewelry, kachinas, pottery, artwork. All genuine, all from generations of Navajo and Hopi craftsmen and craftswomen, highest quality. In the arts village of Tlaquepaque (in Sedona ) many shops selling unique merchandise and art. No rubber tomahawks. No faux stuff. Be careful when buying; flea markets have fleas.

In Prescott, during Fourth of July, they have Art in The Square in Prescot, Arizona. That is always a great place to find local work. In Flagstaff, they usually have an arts & crafts festival at Wheeler Park in downtown Flagstaff. It is called the Fair of Life Festival of Arts & Crafts Extraordinaire. It has a long title but a lot of great craftsmen.
Those are two which I can recall of the top of my head. I will check my show list when I get home and post any more that I find.

At the Oak Creek Canyon overlook outside Sedona, there are often local artisans selling mostly small items, mostly jewelry. If they're not there, you might ask about their schedule at the ranger station.
