shopping - black & white photography
I will be traveling to NY next week. Does anyone know of any good shops or street vendors that sell black and white architecture/still life prints, posters or photographs?

Check out the street vendors outside the Metropolitan Museum of At, though I don't know if they're out in force during cold weather.
|
there are often good vendors out at the entrance to Central Park on near the Plaza Hotel, on the corner of 60th St. and 5th Ave (near Grand Army Plaza).
|
You will also find a few vendors at Rockefeller Center. I was just at the International Center of Photography a few days ago, but I can't remember what they had regarding posters and prints. They do have a huge selection of books. The Web site is www.icp.org. The center is located on 6th Ave. (Ave. of the Americas) at around 44th Street, just off Times Square.

Sunday on West Broadway in Soho.

I bought some great black and white prints at the edge of Central Park this past July. $5-15 for 5x7 thru 11x14s. They look great framed with black frames and black mats. Good Luck, Marla

I got my favorite B & W prints from a vendor across the street from St Pat's cathedral. It's five signature NYC buildings, including WTC taken from a tall, narrow perspective matted together in one frame. I think it was $15 and they are all original photos.

You can find street vendors selling B&W prints scattered throughout the touristy areas of Midtown. However, if you're here on a weekend, go to the sidewalk in front of the Met or to West Broadway in Soho and you will find tons of art and photographs all in one place, usually sold by the artists themselves.
