Shopping/Bakeries Las Vegas
Which outlet mall in Las Vegas provides the best selection ? And I am looking for recommendations on local bakeries - name, address, tel # or web site would be helpful to locate. Thank you.

I recommend Freed's Bakery on the corner of South Eastern and Tropicana Avenues. They are renowned for their wedding cakes that are filled with an incredibly delicious bavarian cream filling. You can even buy wedding cake by the slice! Anyway, they are always winning awards and being mentioned in magazine articles, etc. It's about 3 miles east of the MGM Grand. They probably have a website.

I was checking out their website the other day. Here's the URL

http://www.freedsbakery.com/map.html

Went to Freed's and was very disappointed, $3.50 for a small eclair that had imitation-creme filling. No thanks. The lady tried to explain by saying they had to triple their prices because of power rates.

Lamar's donuts is good, and Danielles Chocolates and Ice Cream is amazing (check the yellow pages). But Las Vegas is definitely lacking in good bakeries if the locals think that Freeds is where-its-at.

Another vote for Freed's bakery, they made my wedding cake = ) The Bagel Cafe in the Summerlin area of Las Vegas is also very good.
|
Can't comment on Freed's regarding pastries, though. Also, Gladys Knight's daughter is supposed to own a bakery on West Sahara which is supposed to be very good, sorry don't know the name.
|
Another vote for Freed's (sp?) on Eastern and Tropicana. Could it be spelled "Freid's"?

I'm pretty sure that Gladys Knight's daughter's bakery is called "Kenya's Cakes".

Is Gladys Knight's daughter's bakery, "Kenya's Cakes" still in Las Vegas?
