sheraton waikiki hotel choice
Yes, I requested help the other day with hotels on the Big Island. I'm choosing the Waikoloa Marriott there.
I'm hoping that the helpful people on this site can advise me on a hotel in Waikiki. The choice is between the Sheraton Waikiki or the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani. Probably an old topic, but perhaps a consensus has developed. I did look at Tripadvisor and see reviews complaining of the Waikiki being dated. Not so much for the Princess Kaiulani. What's your take on these two places? What advise can you offer me to choose between the two? I'll be travelling with my wife and teenage daughter. |
I've stayed at the Sheraton Waikiki several times. I love the hotel and location. A couple things I like about the Sheraron: It's a great location in the middle of Waikiki. It's on the beach. It has a great pool with view of the ocean. The rooms have fantastic views. Some are very high up. It has something like 22 floors. They put us near the top once and I had to request a room a fewer floors down. There is a nice coffee shop with seating in front of the hotel. They have bagels and muffins too. I love to sit with morning coffee and watch all the Japenese brides come through the lobby for their limo. There are 4 restaurants in the hotel. The Hano Hano Room at the top is really nice with beautiful views. It's really clean with good security. Hope this helps. |
why not consider moana surfrider? that's my first choice when my piggybank allows it.

Travelzoo has a new offer on a hotel in Waikiki at a great rate for a suite I believe. Check out their website.

I have stayed at the Princess Kaiulani and found it quite nice. We were upgraded to an ocean view room overlooking the pool. There is a food court type of place on the front lawn at the sidewalk, and the hotel is directly across the street from the Moana Surfrider. The beach is just up from that, and you are right in the middle of everything.

Of your two choices, if they are the same $$, I would choose Sheraton Waikiki as it is on the beach. PK is about 1/2 block from the beach.
If you are going after June 1, then I would choose PK as Royal Hawaiian will be shut down for renovation. It is right next to Sheraton Waikiki. |
The "Parc" hotel is lovely.

For a little bit more, you could stay at the Hilton Hawaiian Village which is a great place to stay at with a great beach and service. It's not in the center of Waikiki, but it's closer to the Ala Moana shopping center.
