Sheraton Rittenhouse Square vs. Holiday Inn Historic District in Philadelphia
 

Which of these two hotels would be better for a family of four? Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you.

There are two Holiday Inn hotels in downtown Phila - both are in quite historic areas so to say. However, Rittenhouse Square is the best, safest and trendiest areas in downtown. I would definitely stay in Sheraton.

The Sheraton is definitely the superior hotel. It's a great location. Also, the hotel is not the standard cookie cutter business hotel. <BR>You're a bit farther from the Liberty Bell, etc., but they're all within walking distance and the Rittenhouse Square area has its own attractions. The Square alone is one of Philly's great people watching spots. How old are your kids?<BR>

I have to disagree w/Vince. The Rittenhouse area is not any safer than Old City and definitely not as trendy in terms of clubs and bars.

The Sheraton Rittenhouse is much nicer for a family of four. It's a vibrant section of the city and full of life during the day and night. The location has a great advantage over the historic district. You have easy walking access to many of the best shops &amp; restaurants and can spend time in and near the square. Also, the Kimmel Center, Philadelphia Art Museum, Rodin Museum, and even Old City are either a short walk or taxi ride away.<BR><BR>Be sure to reserve a table for Saturday or Sunday brunch at Bleu (by the lobby of the Sheraton Rittenhouse facing the square). And a performance or stroll through the Kimmel Center is a short walk away. I like taking out-of-town visitors to see Reading Terminal Market where you can find delicious Amish pastries and pies, as well as gourmet food items. The Ritz movie theaters in Old City are especially nice if your family enjoys independent or artsy films. <BR><BR>The best way to enjoy Center City is to walk around as much as you can in the Rittenhouse Sq. area and Society Hill - and explore its streets.

Donald:<BR>I had the pleasure of staying at the Sheraton Rittnehouse Square with my 12 and 8 year old and found this to be an excellent choice. The room that we had was the largest hotel room that I have ever occupied for the price of a regular room. The service was excellent and the location is very good. No complaints from this midwesterner.
