Sheraton Rittenhouse, Phil, PA -- Eco-Friendly Hotel

Anyone stayed here recently? Sending mom and dad to Philly for the weekend (need a break) and The Rittenhouse was sold-out. I decided to put them up at the Sheraton Rittenhouse Square -- I know it's going to be *quite* different from The Rittenhouse but would like to hear from anyone who has stayed there. Also, what, exactly, does "eco-friendly" mean?

Anyone?

Ok... while I wait for my cheesecake to cool... anyone at all :-(

Ok... mom and dad decided to stay in NY and WE went to Philly!! When we go to Philly, we always stay at The Rittenhouse but as mentioned, it was sold out. I must say that, overall, we DID NOT like this hotel. We had a very large room overlooking Rittenhouse Square which was nice but... the front desk staff was incompetent, the hallways (walls and carpeting) were dirty, the room was in TERRIBLE need of refurbishment (i.e., peeling/dirty wallpaper, peeling paint, stained tub, stained carpet, stained/torn curtains). I could go on but those were the major things. We were really surprised and disappointed -- it could be a really great property if they just cleaned it up!

So much for the environment and your health! :-(

They should gut renovate and, in keeping with their eco theme, make it very Scandinavian in feel -- clean lines, no wall-to-wall carpeting, no fuss, no muss. It might have a chance then.

I believe the hotel is actually failing and on the verge of closing, so that may be part of the problem.

Really! Do you know if they will be keeping it as a Sheraton and renovating? Either do that or build a hotel to rival The Rittenhouse -- it really is a waste of a GREAT location.
