Joanna,
The following links give you information for both driving and taking the PATCO train to the Tweeter Center from the Omni Hotel in Philadelphia. You can catch the PATCO train at 8th and Market in Philadelphia and get off at the Broadway station in Camden. It's about a 4 block walk to the Tweeter Center.
As a previous poster mentioned, there are lots of clubs and restaurants in Old City as well as Rittenhouse Square. If you like jazz, go to Zanzubar Blue at Broad and Walnut near Rittenhouse Square. http://www.zanzibarblue.com/

if i take the PATCO to the tweeter center, does it run late a night around 11 or so? and is the walk back to the camden station after the concert a safe one? thanks for all your help and suggestions.

According to the PATCO website, trains run about every 40 minutes from 11PM to 4AM. The link to the timetables however, lists the last train leaving the Broadway Station in Camdem at around 11:40 PM. I would call PATCO to make sure the train run past midnight.
As long as you use common sense, I do not think it should be too much of a problem walking the 4 blocks or so to the station from the Tweeter Center.
