Sheraton or Hyatt on Kauai

Trying to decide between the Sheraton or the Hyatt on Kauai. Does anyone have recommendations?

Between the two, no question - the Hyatt

As a resident of Kaua`i, I urge you -- if your budget will allow -- to choose the Hyatt. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous...

Hands down...The Hyatt. Take advantage of the spa. Avoid the luau. It was really cheesy and the dancing wasn't that great.

Okay, i gotta put in my 2 cents. Yes the Hyatt is hands down the superior property. That said, the sheraton has a better location, with the best beach on the south side. Another consideration is, are you going to fully use a resort? In other words, if your not going to be at the hotel most of the day, why pay the big bucks? When I travel, I might use the hotel pool, but for the most part, I am gone all day doing tours or activities. So in a nutshell, if your an active vacationer, stay at the sheraton and splurge on tours, dinners and activities. If you want to just stay at a resort and be pampered, stay at the Hyatt.

Hyatt is definitely better if your budget will allow. Only thing Sheraton has over the Hyatt is the beach. Beach in front of Hyatt generally unswimmable. Sheraton beach is a great cresent shaped beach with nice sandy bottom and managable waves. I love the beach at the Sheraton, but the Hyatt is really a great resort.

The room location at the Hyatt does matter, though. Some of the resort view rooms face a parking or work area, and in my opinion, are not worth the price. Having said that, the Hyatt resort is wonderful. Great restaurants and beautiful pools and grounds.

While there is no substitute for a fabulous beach...and there are many in Kaua`i, the salt water lagoon at the Hyatt is a lovely place to float and relax.

Can't comment on the Sheraton, but we spent part of our honeymoon at the Hyatt and loved it. Great pools, lagoon, beautiful grounds, good restaurants, and wonderfrul spa.

Returned last night from Kauai. Stayed at the Sheraton. I would second Brenda M comments. I would also go along with Koa's comments. You can't beat the Sheraton for it's location ref. the beach. Hyatt, definitely the class of the island, when it comes to everything else. Princeville would definitely be near the top as well, depending on how important sunshine is in your plans.
