Sheraton Maui Resort

My husband just earned an award trip to Maui through his job. We will be staying for four nights at the Ritz Carlton. Sounds good to me! Since we'll be flying from New York we will want to stay longer on our own dime. I looked at the Sheraton Maui Resort, and got a rate of around $300 per night including breakfast for two. How does that rate sound? What is the word on this property compared with the others in the area? I would appreciate any feedback or advice from others. Thanks everyone.

If you type "Sheraton Maui" in the search box, you will get lots of advice on the subject!

So I tried to find some of that "advice" and couldn't, so here's my two cents:

The Sheraton is in a really nice location at the north end of the main part of Kaanapali. It's right at Black Rock - wide beach and great snorkeling right off the beach. Of course, that means the beach there can get fairly crowded (not like Jones Beach on the 4th of July crowded, just more crowded than other parts of Kaanapali). The hotel grounds are pleasant and the pool is nice enough, but neither are "glitzy" -- the pool, for example, has no water slides or swim-up bar, for example. The hotel itself is very plain Jane (think Sheraton Manhattan, and put it in Maui, except not that tall). It's very popular among the mid-range hotels.

Sheraton is a good hotel, and $300 is a fair price. If you hunt around, sometimes a few deals pop up. (travelocity had some $200/nt rooms at the Westin recently)

If you look around, consider Wailea as a 2nd place to stay since you experienced the NW side already .. Its really a whole different feeing on the south side, and 300/nt should get you a comparable hotel.
