sheraton maui or marriott maui?
We would appreciate any advice or opinions concerning the Sheraton Maui or Maur Marriott. We will be traveling to Maui in July and would like input from those who have stayed at either of these hotels. Thanks! |
We have been to Maui 5 times and stayed at the Marriott each time. It was completly redone about 2-3 years ago. The rooms are large and very comfortable. Just about all rooms have a great view of the ocean. Last year was the 1st time that the Sheraton was open - rebuilt entirely- and we did not get a chance to see it. We have always been completly satisfied at the Marriott. The people are great and the rates are very competitive.
From what I saw of the Sheraton, there were lots of rooms with golf course views. You will pay extra for ocean view. Some sights- Haleakala (go for sunrise), La Perrosse Bay, Restuarants- Roy's or Nicolina's in Kahana, The resturant at Plantation Golf Course, Pinnaple Hill, |
If the Hyatt in Maui is also an option, I would highly recomend staying there. My husband and I stayed there last August for our honeymoon. The hotel has parrots, penguins, beautiful grounds and a great restaurant called Swan Court. If you don't stay at the Hyatt, be sure to visit Swan Court as it is quite a romantic restaurant. |
I've stayed at the Sheraton twice before the remodel and will go back every time we visit Maui because:
1. Ocean front bungalow rooms on the bluff are the best, easy access to rooms... no elevators to wait for. 2. The beach area has the best snorkling w/the pool area also real close. 3. Close to the Whaler Village for restaurants & shopping. Since the remodel, a friend said it's GREAT! Although I agree with the others you should visit and/or eat at the Marriott and the Hyatt. |
Aloha Tammy!I've stayed at the Hyatt and would not
go back. The grounds may be fine but the rooms were not very clean. The mirrors had a film on them so you could write your initials on it. The furniture was dirty. I have about ten other complaints, but if you really want a nice place the Sheraton at Black Rock beats them all. Also, the beach at the Sheraton is the largest of all the resorts in that area. You won't be disappointed.Aloha,Ed. |
