Sheraton Maui
 

Message: Please could I have opinions on this hotel - best rooms, hotel staff and such costs as cost of meals, drinks, beach loungers, etc and location/walking distance of outside restaurants/bars/shops. I am from the UK and it will be my first long haul holiday so I would like it to be really, really special. Am I on the right track with this hotel? Thanks in anticipation!<BR><BR>

My wife and I stayed there in May'01 and absolutely loved it. Stayed in the rooms overlooking Black Rock. Rooms are not overly large, but views are fantastic. Staff was extremely hospitable. Food/beach/drinks/loungers are expensive (mixed drinks $6 US, loungers are something like $30 US/day) Snorkel at Black Rock - Awesome. Beach - Awesome. Easy walk down the beach to the other resorts as well as the restaurants/bars in Whaler's village. Most of the other bars/restaurants would be a drive from any place you stayed.<BR>Pool is terrific. We had arealyy great time there. Its a bit of a drive from the airport but once youre there youre set. Food, watersports, golf. The nightly cliff diving show was cool. The pool is really nice. The dive staff/instructors are great.

Walk down the beach(5 min) to the Hula Grill and eat with your feet in the sand. Ahhhhhhh.

My husband and I were just there last month and it was WONDERFUL!! It's very clean, beautiful pool, staff was extremely friendly. We stayed on a sixth floor room overlooking the pool and beach areas, so sitting on the lanai in the morning and evenings was wonderful. Drinks at the hotel are a little pricey by U.S. standards, around $6-8, breakfast buffet is wonderful and $20 per person for all you can eat. However, a short walk down the beach to Whaler's Village and the rest of the resort area will get you to a few nicer restaurants that aren't too price. Best bet for meals is to take the bus ($1 fare per person) into Lahaina, the main town on that side of the island, where all the restaurants and shops are. Take the bus instead of driving your rental car; parking the car is a hassle and expensive. Best advice is spend your first day just exploring. The hotel concierge will also be very helpful.
