Shenandoah Resorts
Anyone have any good ideas for a luxury resort in Shenandoah Mtns Virginia?
|
The Homestead in Hot Springs, Virginia. Further west is the Greenbriar in West Virginia.
|
Ditto on both; tho' I think I did enjoy the Greenbriar much more than the Homestead
Try Mountain Lake...... they filmed parts of "Dirty Dancing" there and its beautiful. Near Blacksburg, VA. and on top of the mountain. Long winding road. The food is excellent!!!! Beautiful lake for swimming, boating and fishing. Golf course there also.
We also like Wintergreen outside of Charlottesville. Not as luxurious as the Homestead but nice with lots of activities. The most luxury you can find in Virginia is at the Inn at Little Washington. Its not a resort but the rooms are fantastic and the restaurant is one of the best in the country.

Wintergreen resort is about 20 minutes from Charlottesville. Stay in condos or houses or small conference center at ski resort center. More like a country club than an old grand dame (Homestead/Greenbriar)and less pricey. Several very nice restaurants, plus bars and club for dancing. Mountain top golf couse and additional 27 holes in valley. Summer activities (lakes, pools, mountain biking, canoeing, big tennis facility) see website www.wintergreenresort.com

Mountain Lake is great, but less luxurious than the others mentioned. Went there for a family reunion, and it was the perfect spot.
If you want luxury, do the Greenbriar. Relaxation, good food, golf and the spa (take a sulfer bath)

WONDERFUL!
