Ditch the turkey and go fishing!

We're planning on being in Islamorada Nov. 20-24 and we'd like to do some off-shore fishing for wahoo, sailfish or possibly black tuna. There are two of us and it would be great to split the cost of a charter ($675-850 all day) 3 or 4 ways. Please let me know if you're interested in sharing an off-shore charter Nov 21,22 or Nov 23. thanks!

In Key West the captains of boats leave their names and any open places on a next-day charter at the various hotels to see if they can pick up one or two more people. If you get no replys here, you might try to do this in Islamorada.

I was thinking that maybe we should check out these lists for next-day charters when we get there, rather than booking ourselves. Seems like it's less commitment and we can opt out if the weather looks bad or reports are slow and we don't have to leave a deposit.

Any thoughts on this?

Fishee, I would think it would be a commitment either way. I am sure you would still have to leave a deposit even if you were not the original ones booking the trip.

I'd be happy to pay a deposit just a day or two before vs. giving a deposit 2-3 months before the scheduled charter date. It's always nerve wracking to consider what weather will be like that far out. We have three possible fishing days -- if it looks like rain the next day, we wouldn't sign up and would hope for the next day.

I've heard that thanksgiving week is low season? Hopefully, we'd be able to sign onto a charter fairly easily?

Its not high season but can be crowded around the holiday.
One suggestion I was given was that if there had been recent storms you might not catch much.
