Shakespeare in Central Park?
Will be in NYC from June 11th to 19th and would like some advice from locals or seasoned visitors. 2 Questions:
1) Shakespeare in the Park begins June 13th. I believe it's Liev Shreiber in Macbeth. How long should I expect to have to wait in line to get tickets for a midweek show (eg., on Tuesday the 13th or Wed the 15th) and 2) any other suggestions for special events during the above window? I've posted before in this forum and always found great helpful answers. Thanks in advance! |
Get there at 8 am and there will already be people lined up.
Go to nycvisit.com and look at their calendar. You're arriving on the day of the Puerto Rican Day parade which usually creates chaos with traffic etc. There's also a BBQ Block party that weekend at Madison Square Park. The JVC Jazz festival starts on the 12th http://www.festivalproductions.net/j...edule.php?ID=4 |
Tickets are distributed starting at 1 PM. People start lining up as early at 8 AM
Go to www.RiverToRiverNYC.com for a listing of fre events for the period you will be in the city. |
My daughter often gets in line as early as 6am when she is adamant about seeing a particular show and brings her coffee, water, newspaper, book, and a folding chair or towel ! It's worth it though ! The worse thing is to wait in line and not make the cut when they start handing out the tickets....
Between Shreiber in Macbeth and Streep in Mother Courage, you can bet the lines will be long. Being mid week won't make a difference, it's an extremely popular take plus NY probably has more true theater lovers than anywhere else - |
Here is a link full of good info about tickets for other things that might be helpful for you regarding what else you might find available
