SFO to Monterey by public transporation
I've made several trips to Monterey and will arrive into SFO in June. Would prefer to get transportation from airport to avoid having to pay for hotel in San Francisco as will be returning there at end of trip. Last time I took a train from SFO, then connection to San Jose but the bus/train had left and there was a long delay and was then dropped off at the Amtrak station and another long wait for the bus to take me to Monterey transit center. Have not booked hotel yet.
I would prefer a shuttle bus or coach if anyone can help me. My DL flight arrives at 3pm.
Have stayed at Best Western Plus previously near the transit center and would like some suggestions for a reasonably priced hotel if anyone can help. Thank you in advance for any help available

Any chance you can fly to Oakland on a red eye?
The Amtrak Coast Starlight leaves Oakland Jack London station at 8:50AM. You get off the train in Salinas and an Amtrak bus drops you in front of the Monterey Aquarium about 1PM.
Check to see if Greyhound covers your route later in the day.

This seems to be a very easy & reasonable option:
