Maid of the Mist is pretty cool and you'll get to go under the horseshoe falls. I found the NY side to be nice but a bit shabby and not much to do after you look at the falls. In recent years the Canada side has become much more of a family destination with lots for children to do. So, if you'll have the opportunity to put Niagara Falls off for another time when crossing the border is an option, you may want to consider doing that.
